In April 2014, the Federal Parliament adopted the Law relating to the costing by the Federal Planning Bureau of electoral programmes presented by political parties during the election for the House of Representatives.

The law defines the election costing as a ‘calculation of the short- and medium-term consequences for public finances, purchasing power and employment for various income groups and social security as well as the impact on the environment and mobility that the implementation of the list of priorities would entail’.
